DURHAM, NC (WNCN) — Tuesday is the deadline to have kids vaccinated for new shot requirements that went into effect in July.
The Durham County Department of Public Health held a vaccination clinic on Monday.
The free clinic was offered for students meeting certain requirements.
The new and modified requirements include menigococcal… tetanus… diphtheria… and whooping cough.
“The principal told us that we had a maximum of a month to get the shot. If we did not get the shot then we would have to get suspended from school until we got the shot. I have to get my education, so I have to be at school,” said Zylisha Myers, a 7th grade student.
As of Friday – more than 500 students in Durham still needed the shots.
