ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC (WNCN) — Authorities in Halifax County say a man has been charged after several firearms were stolen from a home.

Six firearms were taken a house on Fairlane Drive in Roanoke Rapids between mid-May and Sept. 8 of this year, deputies say.

Investigations led to warrants being obtained on John Thaddeus Obriant, 49, of Roanoke Rapids, said officials with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Obriant was charged with Breaking and/or Entering and 6 counts of Larceny of a Firearm.

Obriant was arrested Tuesday without incident where he received a $7,000 bond and a court date of October 21.

Deputies have recovered two of the firearms while the investigation continues.

“Additional charges may be likely,” the sheriff’s office said.
