RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The rain didn’t stop several Triangle CEOs and executives from spending Thursday night outside.
The annual United Way of the Greater Triangle event was designed to draw awareness to homelessness, child poverty, and hunger.
“None of us are delusional to think that one night out roughing it for one night is anything like people who are actually homeless,” says John Anthony, CEO of Trust Atlantic Bank. “But what it does do is it gives people a taste of what it’s like to be not in their own bed.”
The CEOs raised money in advanced to determine whether they would receive a cardboard box, pillow, or blanket for the sleep out at Midtown Park in North Hills.
The event also featured round table discussions and simulations to demonstrate the complexities of the housing system.
The sleep out was the second held this month. The first was in Durham.
