Durham man charged in deadly crash after eluding police

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Durham police on Friday identified the driver in a deadly accident from Thursday as Jehdon Shenard Ramsey, 31, of Durham.

Ramsey has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, police said.

On Thursday, Andrew Terry, 27, of Henderson, was killed and Ramsey was injured during the attempt to elude police.

Durham police attempted to stop a vehicle seen speeding around 4:15 p.m. Ramsey did not stop for the officer and sped away at a high rate of speed.

Ramsey’s vehicle crashed seconds later near Residence Inn Boulevard and Highway 54, police said.

Ramsey was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
