Fayetteville Tech security guard helps catch robbery suspect

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Fayetteville Technical Community College security guard chased and detained a wanted robbery suspect, police said.

On Wednesday at around 10:30 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the Baldino’s located at 3018 Ft. Bragg Road in reference to a report of a robbery.

When officers arrived, they learned that the suspect had robbed the business and fled the scene on foot toward Fayetteville Technical Community College.

Officers were then told that a security guard at FTCC had chased and detained the suspect. Police officers met up with the security guard and took custody of Iam Thaddeus Kirk, 19.

Kirk was charged with common law robbery and possession of stolen goods.

Kirk was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Facility where he remains on a $25,000 secured bond.
