FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville police are searching for a 33-year-old man in connection with the Sept. 20 killing of Desmond Deron Smith.
Abubakr Abdur Rahman, last known address on the 100 block of Bremer Street, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Smith on Enterprise Avenue.
On Sept. 20 at about 8 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 3030 block of Enterprise Avenue.
When officers arrived, there were no witnesses or complainants on scene.
Officers began to canvass the area and located Smith near the wood line behind the apartments. Smith was unresponsive and had apparently been shot, police said.
Officers began first aid, to include CPR, until firefighters and paramedics arrived.
Smith was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died.
