RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Fall is officially here and soon leaves across the nation will be turning wonderful shades of yellow, orange and red.

Eighty percent of travelers are planning an autumn getaway and nearly half of those are doing so to view fall foliage, according to TripAdvisor.

TripAdvisor compiled a top 10 list of places to see the colors of fall across America.

The list is based on the quantity and quality of millions of reviews and opinions on TripAdvisor.com.

One North Carolina city made the list along with spots in South Carolina and Tennessee.

Kathy Mathews, of Western Carolina University, said the dry weather should allow this year’s fall leaf colors to be the best in recent memory.
