WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) — Darrell Gerard Taylor, 34, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder, two counts of attempted first degree murder, and one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Police have charged him for reportedly killing a mother and her one-year-old and seriously wounding her three-year-old early Saturday morning.

Taylor is also charged with attempting to murder another woman. Her relation to the victims is unknown at this time.

Wilmington Police believe the violent attack happened before 6:30 a.m. in the Greentree apartment complex.

Officers were first called to the scene in the 4700 block of Greentree Road because of a reported assault.

When they got to the scene, officers said they saw a man outside one of the apartment units. He reportedly had his hands behind his back. Officers ordered him to show his hands and that is when they say he tossed a gun down.

Officers were able to take the suspect into custody.

The mother, a 30-year-old woman, and her one-year-old child were found dead in a car. Her three-year-old was also found inside the vehicle with serious injuries.

Another woman, who was also seriously injured, was outside the car.

The three-year-old and the injured woman were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Wilmington Police were on the scene Sunday gathering information.

Taylor is scheduled to be in court on Monday.
