Planned Parenthood rally against bill that could change sex education in NC

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – About 50 members of Planned Parenthood held a rally at the General Assembly before heading out to lobby lawmakers to vote against N.C. Senate Bill 279.

The proposal would alter standards for sex education in North Carolina.

Currently, instructional materials must be reviewed by several health education experts before being included in classroom materials.

Some say changing the regulations would allow ideological groups to add materials to the sex education courses in the state’s schools.
