DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – As Hurricane Joaquin nears the North Carolina coast, Duke University is offering football fans an incentive to come support the Blue Devils Saturday despite the weather.
Duke plays Boston College at 3 p.m. Saturday. And although Hurricane Joaquin isn’t expected to be near the coast until Sunday, Duke isn’t taking any chances.
The university is offering discounted tickets for Saturday’s game, but there’s a catch. The discount percentage is based on the rain percentage that’s forecast for kick-off.
As of Wednesday, Duke was offering a 20 percent discount because there was about a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday.
WNCN’s Alyssa Corfont has an 80 percent chance of rain for Saturday and that could mean a 40 percent discount.
Fans can keep track of the discounts here and on Duke social media sites at 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. each day leading up to the game. All sales are final and all sales end at 5 p.m. each day.
Fans can play “Tropical Roulette” for tickets, but fans should play smart. Once one discount ends, it’s gone.
Tickets must be purchased over the phone (919) 681-2583 or at the Duke Athletics Box Office in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
