FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Fort Bragg soldier who saved a 6-month-old from a car crash in August was reunited with the family he saved on Wednesday.

Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Farrell was driving down Buffalo Lake Road in Cameron when he came across an overturned car.

Farrell sprang into action and saved a baby that was in the backseat.

“As soldiers, we’re conditioned to run to the sound of gunfire sort of speak; to inject ourselves in a situation where we can do the most good. That day there was no gunfire, but there was an emergency,” Farrell said.

Farrell met little Liam and his parents Wednesday. Caitlin Coffeen and Lt. Brian Coffeen wanted to thank Farrell for saving their son’s life.

“That was a miracle that he was still here because the sergeant that got him out,” Caitlin Coffeen, Liam’s mother.

The Coffeens and Farrell were able to be connected because Sgt. Farrell and Lt. Coffeen’s bosses are married to each other.
