NC high school student with special needs scores big touchdown in team’s football game Friday night

A great show of sportsmanship and a heartwarming story came out of Shelby Friday night after a student with special needs scored a touchdown at the end of his high school football team’s game, a Facebook post by WBTV anchor Molly Grantham said.

Grantham’s post said that the Chase High School student, later identified as Brenden Thompson, 17, scored a 67-yard rushing touchdown at the end of a rainy, mucky game against Crest High School.

As you can see in the video, the students from both teams were ecstatic when Thompson crossed the goal line.

The Chase Trojans ended up losing 27-12, but that didn’t dampen the mood at.
