COLUMBIA, S.C. (WISTV/WNCN) – The Columbia Fire Department says a firefighter who went missing for a short period of time Sunday morning due to rising floodwaters has been located and is safe.
Chief Aubrey Jenkins tells WIS the firefighter was conducting a water rescue in the 8300 block of Bluff Road in lower Richland County when his colleagues lost radio contact with him Sunday morning.
That firefighter, according to Jenkins, was found clinging to a tree.
No word on if he was injured. He is being evaluated.
Columbia isn’t the only part of South Carolina experiencing dangerous flooding. Charleston, South Carolina has received historic amounts of rain over the last couple of days and have also seen serious flooding.
