APEX, N.C. (WNCN) — A North Carolina man led authorities on a wild chase on a motorcycle before crashing into a Wake County deputy’s car on Tuesday afternoon, officials say.
At approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday, an North Carolina State Trooper clocked a 2007 Honda Motorcycle on N.C. 540 at a speed of 110 miles per hour in a posted 70 mile per hour speed zone, said Lt. Jeff Gordon of the Highway Patrol.
“The driver fled from the Trooper, reaching a speed of 153 mph,” Gordon said.
The motorcyclist exited onto N.C. 55 and then attempted to exit onto the ramp from N.C. 55 onto U.S. 1 towards Apex where he collided into a Wake County sheriff’s deputy, Gordon said.
The man was transported to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries.
Gordon said the man was identified as Jonathan Juarez, 22, of Fort Bragg.
Juarez is charged with felony speeding to elude and speeding 153 miles per hour in a posted 70 miles per hour speed zone.
