CARY, N.C. (WNCN) – The Wake County school board approved a proposed budget Tuesday night that includes pay increases for teachers and staff.
Also Tuesday, a second version of the re-assignment plan for the students in the Wake County public school system was released.
The site gives parents and students the chance to put in their address and find their assigned school.
The approved budget gives pay hikes to teachers and staff within the school system. The new North Carolina budget gives teachers a $750 bonus but only raises pay for less experienced teachers.
Wake County Public Schools will use $16 million as part of a five year plan to help teacher salaries meet or exceed pay benchmarks this year.
The system will also use $6 million to give school administrators and non-certified staff a three percent raise. That would include bus drivers, clerical staff, and teaching assistants.
Another $1.8 million will be used as part of a five-year plan to help revamp the extra-duty pay schedule. That new schedule would start this year.
