RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A man was killed after losing control of his car and slamming into a house early Sunday morning, Raleigh Police said.
The incident happened just after 12:30 a.m. when the driver, identified as Yoni Jose Bonilla-Turcios, 22, drove his 1996 Honda sedan into a home located at 4101 Fawn Glen Drive.
Crash investigators said Bonilla-Turcios, of Raleigh, had been traveling north on New Hope Road when he lost control of his vehicle. The car left the road where New Hope Road intersects with Fawn Glen Drive, hit a brick wall that was part of the subdivision’s entrance sign, and then slammed into the house.
Bonilla-Turcios died after being transported to WakeMed.
The owners of the house told WNCN’s Carleigh Griffeth that this was the fifth time a car has driven into their house since they began living there.
They said they have asked the City of Raleigh to put up a guardrail but were told they couldn’t do that.
Police have not said if alcohol or speed were factors in the wreck.
