Wayne County man with ‘violent intentions’ arrested

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – A Goldsboro man was arrested earlier this month after the FBI received information in regard to extreme anti-government ideology, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the information provided to the FBI Task Force, Marshall Vance Johnson Jr. was planning to attend a rally in Washington, D.C., with violent intentions.

During an investigation, authorities learned two warrants had been issued for Johnson’s arrest outside of Wayne County. The warrants were for two misdemeanor violations.

The FBI and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office located Johnson and took him into custody without incident.

Authorities said Johnson had two loaded firearms in his possession as well as a small amount of marijuana.

Johnson was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.

Johnson was issued a $40,000 secure bond and was placed in the Wayne County Jail.
