APEX, N.C. (WNCN) – Three Apex Friendship High School junior varsity football players were injured in a Thursday night game and carried off on stretchers.
Two players were injured during one play in the second quarter, a witness told WNCN. The players were responsive following the collision.
The third player was injured in the third quarter and taken from the field from on a stretcher.
“All the parents there were very concerned. There was not a sound. All the cheerleaders were huddled on knee and all the football players did as well,” a witness told WNCN in a phone interview.
The game against Middle Creek was called after the third injury.
According a tweet from an account claiming to belong to the team’s coach, the students are at home and doing well.
