Police asking for help in solving fatal Chapel Hill hit-and-run

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – Chapel Hill police are asking for the public’s help with gathering information on a fatal hit-and-run Thursday afternoon on Homestead Road.

Guo Qi Zheng, 79, of Old Larkspur Way in Chapel Hill, was hit around 1:20 p.m. on Homestead Road near Weaver Dairy Extension.

Zheng was taken to UNC Hospitals and later died.

Police said a dark brown sedan was said to have been involved in the crash and it fled in the direction of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

If anyone has information about this hit-and-run, please call either the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515. Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to arrest.
