Devils get Halloween night game; Pack plays in afternoon

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – N.C. State won’t be playing on the night of Halloween after all – but the Duke Blue Devils will.

The ACC on Monday announced the State-Clemson game in Raleigh Oct. 31 will be at 3:30 p.m. That’s still a prime spot for the Wolfpack, although the game could be on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.

Clemson is 6-0 and Wolfpack fans, after a 4-0 start, were dreaming of a showdown between two undefeated teams. But State has stumbled since and is now 4-2 overall and 0-2 in ACC play.

The networks tend to put the biggest games, like undefeated LSU vs. Florida this past Saturday, in the evenings on the biggest networks but the 3:30 slot still gets a massive audience.

Also that week, North Carolina is at Pitt on Thursday, Oct. 29, 7 p.m.  on ESPN , and Duke goes get a Halloween night homE when it plays against Miami at 7. That game is scheduled for ESPN2 or ESPNU.

And maybe it’s fitting that the Devils get the Halloween evening game after all.
