RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Blue skies and moderate temperatures led to massive crowds this weekend at the North Carolina State Fair.
The Fair on Monday announced it had 365,859 visitors in the first four days, led by a whopping 126,666 on Saturday. Another 97,906 people were at the Fair on Sunday.
The State Fair began opening on Thursdays in 2008. In 2010, the Fair had a record 368,991 people in the first four days. This year’s attendance in the second-largest since the Fair started opening on Thursdays.
The 2010 Fair finished with an overall attendance of 1.091 million, which remains a record. That number was swelled by a massive crowd of 151,647 that Saturday ,which is an all-time attendance record for the Fair.
The weather became cooler Monday but WNCN meteorologists are projecting mild temperatures and little chance of rain the rest of the week. Fair crowds jump on clear days and of course drop with the chance of rain.
