SALISBURY, N.C. (WBTV) – A Rowan County man who was seriously injured in a crash the day before his wedding got married after all.
According to Samantha Gallimore, her husband, 26-year-old James Gallimore, was released after being flown to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem Friday.
The crash happened just before 11 a.m. Friday on Miller Chapel Road. Officials say the car was airborne and rolled several times before James Gallimore was thrown out.
Neighbor Vickie Yates heard the crash. She called 911 and also ran to see if she could help the driver.
“He just told me his name was James, he’s supposed to be getting married tomorrow, he didn’t remember what happened and he was pretty hurt so I just tried to keep him talking until help got here,” Yates said.
Samantha Gallimore, then fiancée Samantha Hampton, arrived soon after the accident.
“We were supposed to get married tomorrow,” Samantha said. “I’m freaking out, I don’t know if we’re going to be able to get married tomorrow.”
“He’s excellent, he’s my true love, we’ve been together for six years and we were getting married Saturday,” she added.
Officials have not said exactly what caused the accident.
