Wake Schools tweak Leesville Elem. assignment, OK teacher raises

The Wake County School Board meets on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) – Wake County Schools, in reviewing school reassignment on Tuesday, proposed some changes to Leesville Elementary School after hundreds of parents protested.

Neighborhoods to remain at Leesville Elementary included Ashworth Estates, Camden Park, Cornerstone Park, Eastwinds, Park at Westgate, Westchase and Westwind.

The school board also approved a supplemental increases for teachers. Those raises are 2.5 percent for regular education teachers and 3.25 percent for special education.

The North Carolina General Assembly recently passed a one-time bonus of $7570 for all teachers and raises for less experienced teachers, but not raises for more experienced teachers.

Wake County on Tuesday proposed .25 percent raises for teachers with 3-7 years of experience, 1.50 percent for teachers with 28-29 years of experience and 2 percent of 30 or more years of experience.
