FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — A gunman tried to rob a convenience store, but failed and then managed to rob a Burger King in Fayetteville on Wednesday, police say
On Wednesday, at about 3:30 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the Skylite Tobacco Mart located at 6047 Morganton Road in reference to a report of an attempted robbery.
The suspect was described as a black male, 5’08” to 5’09” tall, weighing between 140 and 180 lbs., wearing a dark hoodie over a red shirt with a red cloth over his face, according to police.
“The suspect left the store when he could not get in due to the door being locked,” police said in a press release.
Later in the morning, at 6:30 am, the same suspect entered the Burger King located at 638 South Reilly Road brandishing a pistol and robbed the business at gunpoint, police said.
The suspect then fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.
