Wednesday is Military Appreciation Day at NC State Fair


RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Wednesday is Military Appreciation Day at the North Carolina State Fair.

Wednesday is all about honoring those who serve our country.

There will be several events throughout the day to celebrate military members, including a parade and a National Guard equipment display.

The first 3,000 in the door Wednesday will receive a free American flag.

The fairgrounds were once used as military training grounds.

The 440th Army band will perform three times for fairgoers.

Active-duty service members, reservists, retirees, National Guardsmen and their dependents only pay $6 at the gate. Proper identification must be shown at the gate to get the discount.

Waterfall Stage Activity Schedule:

12 p.m. – Military Appreciation Day Program
1 p.m. – 440th Army Band
2 p.m – Historical Uniform Revue presented by the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources
4 p.m. – 440th Army Band
6 p.m. – 440th Army Band
