TARBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – One man was killed and another now faces second-degree murder charges after a domestic dispute resulted in a stabbing in Tarboro Saturday evening, police said.
Police responded to a call from 2252 Sherwood Ave. just after 7 p.m. and found Jason Jamar Williams, 28, lying in the front yard of the home with a stab wound to the chest.
Williams was transported to Edgecombe Vidant Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The suspect, Clifton Douglas Powell, 30, of was still on scene when police arrived and was taken into custody where he was interviewed by investigators.
It was determined that Williams and Powell had engaged in a dispute that escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, Powell took out a knife and stabbed Williams in the chest.
Powell has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and is being held under a $500,000 bond at the Edgecombe County Detention Center.
