CHADBOURN, NC (WNCN) – The Chief of the Chadbourn Police Department confirms a victim died in a shooting Saturday night.
Kena McMillian, 41-years-old, was shot to death in her home in the 600 block of South Wilkes Street in Chadbourn, WECT reported.
Columbus County Coroner Linwood Cartrette told WECT that McMillian was taken to Columbus Regional Healthcare System, where later died from her injuries.
A suspect is in custody, the police chief told WECT.
McMillian, who had a son and daughter, was an LPN at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation, according to information from Facebook.
“A very dear friend and co-worker was taken from this world last night. She had a heart of gold and no matter what always had a smile on her face,” wrote Tracey Faulk on Facebook.
The Chief would not provide any additional details to WECT on Sunday evening.
