HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A 23-year-old man has been charged by Hillsborough police in a Oct. 20 armed robbery of a Domino’s Pizza restaurant.
Benjamin Robert Smith, of 410 Terrell Road, is charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of second-degree kidnapping.
Smith was being held in the Durham County Jail on unrelated charges when he was interviewed by investigators.
Hillsborough police said Smith confessed during the interview.
Smith was arrested Oct. 23 with Christopher J. Anderson, 28, of Haw River, as they were planning a home invasion.
Smith and Anderson confessed to the plan and to other crimes across several counties.
Police said the Domino’s Pizza on John Earl Street was robbed by Smith at gunpoint around 10 p.m. Oct. 20.
