‘All clear’ given after Methodist University in Fayetteville placed on lockdown

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN)- Methodist University was placed on lockdown shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday, campus police said.

The school’s main campus was placed on lockdown at 4:50 a.m. due to reports of an armed robber on or near campus.

The lockdown was lifted and an ”all clear” was given about two hours later at 6:40 a.m.

Campus police said a message was sent through the school’s automated alert phone system, warning students that a “potential gunman” was near campus.

No injuries or reports of gunfire were reported.
