SNOW HILL, N.C. (WNCT) – Deputies in Greene County now know the identity of a body burned beyond recognition.
Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith says that the body discovered in the vehicle fire found on Wednesday morning has been identified as 40-year-old Tyrone Robinson Jr. of Kinston. Robinson’s cause of death has not yet been determined and the investigation is still on going.
Deputies discovered Robinson’s body in a burned vehicle Wednesday around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Edwards Rd. and Gray Rd.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is working with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on the case.
Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram said that he believes the case is connected to one of his own. On Tuesday, Ingram says a woman was shot in Greene County and then walked to a home on Johnson Road in Kinston.
Ingram says the woman suffered wounds to her hand and shoulder. He adds that he believes she’s since been released from the hospital.
Ingram tells hat he thinks the body found in the car, now identified as Robinson, may have had some sort of relationship with the woman. He says that he has turned over his case to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and that he thinks deputies have since talked with the female shooting victim.
Anyone with information about either incident is requested to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at 252-747-3411.
