Police looking for woman who went missing from Smithfield rest home

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WNCN) – Smithfield Police are looking for a 59-year-old woman who went missing Thursday morning after leaving her rest home for her daily walk.

Martha Jean Looney left the facility at approximately 11 a.m. Thursday to go on her daily walk but never returned, police said.

Looney is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. She has salt-and-pepper hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a brown sweater, a three-quarter length black trench coat, and was carrying a blue denim bag.

Looney has medical issues and is visually impaired, police said.

If anyone has any information on her whereabouts they are asked to call Capt. R.K. Powell at the Smithfield Police Department at 919-934-2121.
