Police: 40,000 show up for Franklin St. Halloween celebration; no arrests made or citations issued

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – Chapel Hill’s massive Halloween celebration on Franklin Street drew about 40,000 people at its peak, police said.

The streets were cleared of all people by 11 p.m. and the road was cleaned by Town of Chapel Hill crews and reopened to traffic just before midnight.

Police said no arrests were made and no citations were issued in the area where the festivities took place.

Orange County Emergency Services responded to less than one dozen calls at the event and the majority of them were alcohol-related.
