Man wounded by shotgun blast at McDonald’s in Butner

BUTNER, N.C. (WNCN) – A man was rushed to Duke Hospital Monday after being shot in the chest with a 12-gauge shotgun at a McDonald’s.

The shooting happened at a McDonald’s on Highway 56 between Creedmoor and Butner around 4:12 p.m., authorities said.

“The suspect shot the victim in the chest with a 12 gauge shotgun as the victim entered the restaurant,” said Butner Public Safety Chief Danny R. Roberts.

Eric Goss, age 23, of Creedmoor was taken into custody at his home on Harkey Lane. Officers seized his vehicle and a shotgun at the scene.

The name of the victim has not been released.
