CARY, N.C. (WNCN) – The Town of Cary will roll out two brand new 26-passenger C-Tran buses Monday.
The new buses are the largest additions in C- Tran’s current fleet of 12 vehicles.
Transit Services Administrator Ray Boylston, says that since the fixed routes were introduced 10 years ago, Cary has seen growth.
“Since the system began, we’ve seen an increase in ridership of about 15% per year, we are currently at about 325,000 riders per year,” Boylston told WNCN Traffic Reporter Nikki Kay.
The buses are not only the largest additions to Cary’s fleet, but they are equipped with brand new technology.
“Wi – Fi, security cameras, and bike racks are just a couple of the latest rider friendly features to make C-Tran a more desirable option for your commute,” said Boylston,“These are our first buses which have a front door and a rear door, which allow for easier access. And one of the really cool features, they have hydraulic lowering to make it easier for people in boarding.”
These two buses will be operating on the highest productivity routes: 3, 4,5, and 6.
