NC police arrest felon seen walking down street with shotgun

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A felon was arrested Tuesday night after police received a report of a man walking down the street with a shotgun.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, responding officers located Omega Harold Blue, 61, in the 500 block of Swann Street.

When Blue was ordered by police to drop the shotgun he followed instruction and was taken into custody.

Officers located shotgun shells in Blue’s cargo pants pocket. Police said Blue made a comment about other firearms in his home, so they asked if they could perform a search.

Blue granted permission for officers to search his home. They found a small amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia during the search.

Blue was arrested and charged with going armed to the terror of the public, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the New Hanover County Jail, and given a $150,000 secured bond.
