KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (WNCN) – Students at Knightdale High School gathered Thursday morning to remember a classmate who was killed Wednesday morning in a head-on crash in Raleigh.
Edward Tyler Eason, 16, was killed Wednesday when his car crossed the center line on Forestville Road in Raleigh and hit a public utilities truck head on.
As soon as word spread about Eason’s death, many wrote on social media. Knightdale High PTSA wrote on Twitter, “Our hearts are heavy with sadness with the loss of one of our student Knights. May the Eason Family find peace & comfort during this time.”
Eason’s aunt also shared memories of her nephew with WNCN.
“I’m going to remember his smile, he was loving. He would hug me and tell me how much he loved me and I’m just going to remember that,” Ginger Lewis, Eason’s aunt, said.
The City of Raleigh released a statement shortly after the crash saying, “Our hearts go out to everyone involved in this tragic accident.”
Students gathered before class at 7:45 a.m. at the school’s baseball field for a vigil for Eason.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with Eason’s funeral costs.
