NC man sentenced to 20 years in prison in prostitution investigation

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A Wilmington man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in supporting prostitution, the United States Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

Randolph Johnson Spain, 26, was sentenced Wednesday by Senior U.S. District Judge James C. Fox.

Spain was found guilty in January of interstate transportation in support of prostitution on two separate occasions.

Authorities said Spain met and “wooed” a woman before taking her Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. While in Myrtle Beach, Spain told the woman he was a “pimp and she would be his prostitute” or ‘face the consequences’.”

Documents show that Spain controlled a second woman and took both women to Virginia and other state for prostitution.
Investigators later learned that Spain “controlled and exploited” additional women.

In addition to 20 years in prison, Spain was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release.
