NC-581 in Wilson Co. reopens following train derailment

KENLY, N.C. (WNCN) – Highway 581 in Wilson County was closed due Tuesday due to a train derailment just south of Wilson, The North Carolina Department of Transportation reported.

The incident happened around 3:10 a.m. Tuesday near Kenly, according to NCDOT.\

The road reopened just before 2 p.m.

A NCDOT spokeswoman said three train cars carrying coal were involved in the derailment. CSK was deployed to help clean up the spill. No injuries were reported
