The girl was running across Perry Creek Road, near the intersection of Filbin Creek Drive, when she was hit by a 2008 Honda sedan driven by a 26-year-old man.

The girl was taken to WakeMed with serious injuries.

Thomas, the neighbor, said the road, which has a speed limit of 45 mph, can be dangerous.

““Even though this is a busy road, they should put signs out to let people know that kids are playing because all these houses are close by,” Thomas said.

Raleigh Police originally said the girl was 9 years old.
