ROUND ROCK, Texas – (WNCN) – An Army veteran from North Carolina was killed in a wrong-way crash in Round Rock, Texas Wednesday morning, KXAN reported Thursday.
KXAN reported that Austin Police received multiple calls about a wrong-way driver on Interstate 35 early Wednesday morning.
John McClintock, 32, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-35 around 4 a.m. A police chase ensued but ended about 15 minutes later in Round Rock, KXAN reported.
Police did not confirm the identity of the victim, but family members told KXAN the victim was 25-year-old Domonick Turner.
Turner’s father, Dale Turner, spoke with KXAN, who said his son was an Army veteran who completed two tours in Afghanistan.
The Turners told KAXN they live in North Carolina. Their address listed them as living in Rocky Mount.
“He was a great man, he’ll never be able to have that joy of having children,” Dale Turner told KXAN.
Turner said his son was returning from Fort Hood where he was visiting friends when he was hit on his motorcycle.
KXAN reported that McClintock has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter.
