Man wears wig, tries to cash checks from stolen purse in NC

GASTON, N.C. (WBTV) – Police in Gaston County are asking for the public’s help identifying a man they say attempted to cash checks from a stolen purse while wearing a wig.

Officers said the man used an identification card and other materials from a purse stolen from a vehicle in Gaston County to attempt to cash fraudulent checks in Charlotte, Mint Hill, Fort Mill, and possibly Union County.

The man is described as a white male in his late 20s to early 40s. He was caught on surveillance video wearing a female wig with long, straight, light or blonde hair in a bangs style cut.

He was driving a silver Chevy Malibu.
