LOWGAP, N.C. (WXII) – Law enforcement officials are digging at a Surry County farm in connection with the case of a man who was last seen eight years ago.

The dig, which Surry County Sheriff Graham Atkinson said is for a possible body recovery, is taking place off Palmer Road near Round Peak Church Road in Lowgap.

Atkinson said Friday they’ve been digging since Monday after receiving information that Jimmy Huff may have been buried on a farm.

Huff was reported missing in 2007 and disappeared under mysterious circumstances, Atkinson said. The Mount Airy News reported Huff’s vehicle was found abandoned on property not far from where the search is taking place.

No suspects have been identified in the case.

If you know Huff’s whereabouts or have any other information that can help investigators, you’re asked to call the Surry County Sheriff’s Office.
