Couple in their 80s killed in Morrisville train-car collision Saturday night

MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A couple in their 80s was killed in Saturday night’s train-car collision in Morrisville, town officials said Sunday.

William L. Flint, 86, and Dorothy L. Flint, 83, both of Cary, were killed when a train slammed into their car at the intersection of Morrisville-Carpenter Road and Chapel Hill Road in Morrisville at approximately 8 p.m.

A westbound freight train hit the couple’s Toyota Camry that was on the tracks between the crossing arms, officials said.

According to the initial investigation, the driver made a wrong turn and got stuck on the tracks.

The road was blocked in the area of the crash for a couple of hours.

No other information has been released.
