DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Name a comic book character and there’s a good chance you’ve seen them this weekend if you’ve been around downtown Durham.
Thousands have gathered at the convention center for N.C. Comicon in Durham.
Events like this are held across the country, but organizers here said they want this to be an old-style comic book convention.
This is the sixth year the event has been in town and those that came out Saturday said they’ll be back.
Austin Tyner, a Comicon regular said you’ll never know what, or who, you’ll see walking around.
“Just seeing all the people in costume. All of the famous people that you get to run into. The comic book writers, the voice actors and things like that [is really cool],” he said.
The show expanded this year as events were also held in the Durham Armory space and the 21c Museum Hotel.
