GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – An undercover investigation has put 23 people behind bars for drug-related offenses.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is part of “Operation Safe Schools Zones.”
The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office said the arrests stem from a six-month undercover investigation into drug activity within school zones. As a result of the investigation, 23 people were arrested on drug charges, many of which were within 1000 feet of schools.
The Sheriff’s Office said during the operation, deputies worked with police departments to execute search warrants throughout the county.
Investigators began making arrests on Oct 27. The Sheriff’s Office said investigators made 16 arrests on Nov 17.
More arrests are expected in the next few weeks.
