Chapel Hill teens arrested after posting threat against school on social media

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – Two Chapel Hill teens face charges Monday after police said they posted a threat against a school on social media.

Chapel Hill police said it received a report of a threat that was made on social media. Officers conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of two suspects.

Shane Ryan Long, 17, and Caleb James Etheridge, 16, both of Bolin Creek Drive in Chapel Hill, were charged with felony false report of mass violence.

Long and Etheridge were released into the custody of their parents.

They have scheduled court appearances on Nov. 24.
