Important tips for properly carving your turkey

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – With Thanksgiving this Thursday, WNCN has teamed up with Wake Tech’s Culinary School to help make sure you prepare the perfect turkey for you family feast.

The first step we told you about was thawing the bird and then we told you about brining. But once the turkey is cooked and the family has gathered around the table, it’s now time to carve your bird.

Jeff Hadley, who runs the culinary program at Wake Tech, says when you pull out your bird could affect the way you carve.

“I’m pulling it out of the oven and I’m letting it rest for about 15 or 20 minutes. It’s something you want to do…you need to let the moisture redistribute so it’s where it needs to be,” Hadley said.

Hadley says if you’re not as skilled with a regular knife, you may want to use an electric knife.
