RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A Raleigh teen girl was injured when she walked into the street and into the side of a truck traveling on Raven Ridge Road, police said.
Keira Ann Matson, 19, of Raleigh stepped into the roadway and into the side of a truck operated by Victorino Lopez, of Zebluon, according to a wreck report released by Raleigh police.
Matson was injured in the collision but the extent of her injuries is not know at this time.
The truck operated by Lopez was traveling at the posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour when Matson stepped into the vehicle, the wreck report says.
Chris Pettit, the man who owns the truck involved in the accident, said his driver was unable to avoid the collision.
He said the woman stepped into the road and into the side of the truck.
“It’s something that he couldn’t avoid. He tried to get out of the way, but unfortunately she took that step there at the last minute,” said Pettit.
Pettit also said his driver was “visibly shaken” following the incident.
Raleigh police confirmed Raven Ridge Road was closed to traffic after the woman was hit but has since reopened.
The truck had three passengers at the time of the collision, none were injured.
No charges have been filed yet in the incident.
