GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — A Garner charity that focuses on helping others this time of year is out nearly $5,000 after someone broke into their building and stole cash.
Garner Area Ministries helps hundreds of families a year with food, clothing and paying their bills.
The charity says they could pay for two months’ worth of food or pay 30 power bills with the amount of money that was stolen.
The Garner Police Department says they are looking for leads after the break-in earlier in the month when a thief broke into the business overnight by breaking one of the front windows at the charity’s thrift store.
“It has hurt us and it has set us back a little,” said Carol Oriel, the President of the charity’s board. “But it didn’t stop our spirits and we’re going to keep on helping.”
If you’d like to help, a GoFundMe page has been set up for the charity to help them regain what they lost. They’re currently operating on reserve funds to help families.
