LOS ANGELES (NBC) – Evan McKeel, who grew up in Durham, North Carolina, was eliminated Tuesday night on NBC’s “The Voice.”
McKeel, competing for Team Pharrell, began to sing when he was 5 years old in the church choir, and learned to play guitar from his dad.
By age 12, McKeel was leading worship at church, and eventually, he branched out and began performing at bars and farmer’s markets. McKeel put ministry college on hold to focus on his music career.
“Everything good thing is from God,” McKeel said. “If he takes away, something better coming. “
McKeel said he would go home happy regardless of the outcome. He said he “done all I wanted to do” and looked forward to the finale with his friends on the show.
He said he might hang out in Los Angeles for Thanksgiving and then return home to “get back to music every day.”
